The pandemic has changed women’s perception of work. Especially for senior executives who are leaving their positions at a faster rate than ever in search of benefits such as telecommuting, flexibility or more equal treatment with their male colleagues.
For every woman who is promoted to a management position, two of them choose to leave the company. This phenomenon has caused the percentage of female executives who resigned to be 10.5% in 2021 compared to 9% of men. Only one in four bosses is a woman.
These are the results of the ‘Women in the Workplace’ report carried out every year since 2015 by McKinsey & Co. and LeanIn.org with data from 12 million employees in more than 330 companies in the US and Canada. “Women are not leaving work,” explains LeanIn.Org Executive Director Rachel Thomas, a co-author of the report.
